There were all varieties of meteors; some small at high altitude that darted across the sky, and others that were long burning streaks that scorched from one side of the sky to the other with tails that broke up in fiery sparks. I felt like I was actually in space, not just looking up at it.

The sprawling stars reached the edges of the horizon, and touched the the ground. The air was still and utterly silent. As I wandered past the extra terrestrial shapes, there were strange flashes of light that suddenly flickered on arches around the desert. It was the headlamps of other photographers light painting.
