Kings Canyon National Park Vs Yosemite
What Yosemite has in its favor is the high drama, the famous sights that even though you have seen in pictures still make you gasp out loud when you see them in person, the massive waterfalls and the feeling of being in the middle of a gigantic cathedral of nature. Cedar Grove and the valley floor are another 36 miles beyond Grant Grove. Take to the Redwoods National Park. These are very scenic roads through small mountain towns.
CROWNING GLORY / Kings Canyon rivals Yosemite in all but crowds — and grandeur is easy to get to
Re: Which is better Yosemite or Sequoia? My opinion, after having visited both, is that Yosemite is better overall. But Sequoia has its strengths too. The trees are as big as buildings and the park is generally less crowded than Yosemite.
There is a cave in Sequoia, Crystal Cavealthough you have to pay an entrance fee to the cave, I don’t know of any caves in Yosemite. Kings Canyon National Park is adjacent to Sequoia and the 2 are managed as a single unit, and your admission to one gets you admission to both. Sequoia is also closer to Los Angeles. What Yosemite has in its favor is the high drama, the famous sights that even though you have seen in pictures still make you gasp out loud when you see them in person, the massive waterfalls and the feeling of being in the middle of a gigantic cathedral of nature.
I think I’ve been to 15 national parks so far, and in my opinion Yosemite is the best overall of the U. Yellowstone would probably be 2 and Grand Canyon 3 but Yosemite is the one that has made me gasp and left me literally speechless several times. Glacier Point is arguably the best viewpoint in the United Statesrivaled only by some viewpoints on the Kings Canyon National Park Vs Yosemite of the Grand Canyon. The ” Tunnel View ” now called Yosemite Valley Overlook is a real shocker, I love taking people there and watching them gulp in amazement when we come out of the Wawona Tunnel to see the view of Glacier National Park To Great Falls Mt Valley.
The look of Yosemite changes continuously throughout the day Kings Canyon National Park Vs Yosemite the sun changes angle and changes continuously throughout the Kings Canyon National Park Vs Yosemite too. However, you are visiting in August, which is not the best time of year to visit Yosemite.
August is a good time for seeing the high country of Yosemite though. Certainly all park roads will be open in August including Tioga Roadthe 2nd best drive in California in my opinion the best being Highway 1 through Big Suragain in my opinion.
My advice would be if you can only go to one of the two, and you won’t be visiting California again, pick Yosemite even though August is not the best month there, it’s still good. If you have the time to see both, go to both, but go to Sequoia first. Edited: 11 years ago.
As in Yosemite, the trail system in Kings Canyon is a big-time lure, not just for the backcountry solitude-seekers, but also for lightweights who want to stretch their legs and find a great view. Whatever you do, please avoid the I-5!! Certainly all park roads will be open in August including Tioga Road , the 2nd best drive in California in my opinion the best being Highway 1 through Big Sur , again in my opinion.
